It’s way deeper than just training for Admins…
Training is an ongoing enterprise and you need to have someone with you to help explain things as you go. This means that you need to have someone available to communicate with whenever you have your question. It also means that the communication must be centralized for you to be able to follow along with the conversation now, as well into the future. Have you ever needed to look back at your notes from the beginning of the class when the class is nearing its end with a final exam…of course.
Each day as an Admin is one more day of the “Final Exam” in my opinion.
You are expected to know all…be all…do all…at all times…that’s why you get paid the “big bucks” of course. The reality is that we are all human and will be at the top or the bottom of our “game” any given day. It is not always about what you know…it is sometimes about knowing where to look quickly to find what you need. The quickest typist into Google can look like the smartest one in the group, right?? That’s ok, if you have a great resource to leverage to find what you need, with the context you need, and also with someone to chat with as you need.
Asynchronous communication is what we do all day long.
How many threads of emails are you watching right now? Teams? Slack? Whatever else you are using….the point is that you don’t always need to talk to someone immediately to get help, but you do need a connection…that is the important part. To know that you are actively connected to someone in the thread who is there to help along the way.
We are here to help as you need us to in a way that is meaningful for you and your team.
Thank you to everyone who continues to remind us how to make the best and most positive impacts.
