All reviews and reviewers are not created equal
I am speaking directly about the process of reviewing your Encompass® platform settings and/or your entire mortgage operations workflow.
If you ever had a professional look over something for you, whether it be a legal document or perhaps a professional reviewing something that you were about to purchase, hopefully, you had a great experience. However, far too often, I find that there is a significant and distinct difference between different kinds of reviews by different kinds of people within the same profession.
It’s not that other reviews are completely valueless; they give a false sense of security or completeness. Do you want to make sure that whoever is reviewing your environment and workflow understands the context of why certain settings are in certain ways? The people who turned out to be the best reviewers are those who have physically done the work and completed the work. Reading a textbook is a great start, but it's hard to truly guide others until you actually put the practice in reality.
Any review for your workflow or your technology stack should include the tasks to be done in a clear format and why the task is important. You may disagree with the reviewer's perspective based on the recommendation, or the perspective of the recommendation may spawn other questions that you have in other areas of your workflow. That is the true value of a complete workflow and technology review.
